Apollonia | Sifnos
The timeless elegance of a restored mansion with views to remember.
Villa Monet occupies an elevated plot of land just of Apollonia, the island's main town. The five bedroom mansion that once housed one of the island's most prominent families, went through a respectful renovation that restored its former panache and updated it to modern standards. The house is surrounded by lush gardens with colourful flowers and local herbs and fitted with a large, sea-facing terrace. There are outdoor lounge and dining areas, some open-sky, some shaded by pergolas or century-old trees, and a handsome swimming pool with panoramic sea-views.
The interior is elegant, colourful and immersed in the arts. Modern, comfortable furniture are complemented by antique pieces and artworks that were collected over a period of decades. The mood is informal -all the pieces seem to be placed around the rooms casually, like a home with a soul rather than a cold hotel suite. The bedrooms are minimally furnished and lavishly upholstered, pierced by windows that let the rooms breathe and invite the sunlight in. To maximise privacy, the three guest rooms of the garden and pool level have independent entrances.
