Natural meets refined in a modernist retreat with sweeping views. Fully equipped with all the essentials of summer living, this villa sits on a hilltop that offers panoramic views of the countryside and the sea beyond. The three bedroom residence, part of a 5-villa complex, features comfortable lounge and dining areas, an inviting swimming pool and gardens dotted with local varieties of herbs and flowers, all oriented toward the seascape. Although both the indoor and outdoor spaces are modernist to the detail, they are designed to complement rather than contradict the Mykonian landscape. To this end, the materials are natural -wood, concrete and stone- and the palette muted. Large glass doors are fitted throughout the house to dissolve the boundaries between outdoor and indoor, delivering a calming connection to the outside world. The décor adheres to the same principle of elegant simplicity that lies in the heart of minimalism. The furniture are well-designed and the ornaments sparse. White and beige hues add a sense of warmth to the rooms and highlight the textures and shapes. The bedrooms are uniform white and bared down to the minimum. Every object here serves a purpose -there is nothing unnecessary or in excess. The focal point is the bed, geometric, clean-lined and fitted with hidden lighting that makes it seem like it's floating above the ground. Despite the lack of ornamentation, the rooms feel intimate and warm, creating an atmosphere of serenity and relaxation.
