An exquisitely restored 1770s turret with spectacular vistas. Set on the pristine peninsula of Mani, surrounded by a stark, strangely alluring landscape that contrasts sharply with the sea's spectacular blue, this villa is a traditional 1770s turret that went through a dazzling reinvention. Both the house and the terraces that wrap around it are built entirely out of stone to make the structure feel like an extension of the setting. The patches of green, the shaded outdoor sitting and dining areas and the swimming pool -a modest rectangle carved into the ground- create an oasis of life amid the barren land and are ideal spots for lounging about and taking in the raw beauty of the setting. The interior of the house blends traditional with contemporary in a flawless mash-up. The backbone of the old house -the cave-like rooms, the sturdy stone-built fireplace- was kept intact. To echo the exterior without closing up the spaces, parts of the stone-and-cement walls were dressed in stucco and others were left uncovered. Wooden floors and doors were fitted to warm up the spaces and enhance the house's natural ambience. The result was at the same time modern and timeworn -an aesthete that was reflected in the furnishings, that range from vintage to contemporary, encompassing the ages that went by since the house was built. The assemblage of different styles was then brought together by a discrete collection of handmade ornaments that add a welcoming, personal touch. The villa consists of a main house with two bedrooms arranged in two levels and a guest house with another two bedrooms.
